BIOS
CHRISTOF KURZMANN ist ein österreichischerr Musiker. Er spielt Saxophon und Klarinette, elektronische Instrumente und singt. Kurzmann, der in Wien und Buenos Aires lebt, ist vor allem auf dem Gebiet des Elektropop, der experimentellen Musik und des Freejazz aktiv. Er arbeitet mit Musikern wie John Butcher, Ken Vandermark, B. Fleischmann, Martin Brandlmayr, Leonel Kaplan zusammen. Mit der Videokünstlerin Michaela Grill entstand das Projekt Boiled Frogs. Beim New Jazz Meeting des SWR improvisierte er mit Steve Lacy und Philip Jeck. Bei den Donaueschinger Musiktagen 2004 wurde seine elektronische Komposition 4rooms mit Andrea Neumann und Tony Buck aufgeführt. Kurzmann leitete mehrere Formationen, darunter “Extended Versions” und das Orchester 33 1/3. Zur Zeit arbeitet er vor allem an den Projekten “The Magic I.D.” und “El Infierno Musical”.

Irena Tomažin is a dancer, performer and singer as well as being a postgraduate philosophy student at University of Ljubljana. Mostly working in dance and theater performances she collaborated with many different choreographers, directors and sound artist, performing in Slovenia as well as abroad in Europe and in Japan. In her own work she works mainly with voice and movement what resulted in performances: “Hitchcock’s metamorphosis”, “Caprice”, “Caprice (re)lapsed”, “as a drop of rain into the mouth of silence”, “out of discord” with Josephine Evrard, and in 2012 “taste of silence always resonates”. With her solo project named “iT” for voice and dictaphones she works on her own experimental voice materials and made a CD “Crying games”. Otherwise she was collaborating also with BastKolektiv / Aldo Ivančič (ex Borghesia), Tomaž Grom, N’toko, Seijiro Murayama, Liz Allbee… At the moment she’s performing also in a duet with saxophone and electronics Slovene improviser Marko Karlovčec with whom she released a cd ‘That Which Happens Is Itself Dripping Red’; and in a duet “nnit” with piano improviser Neža Naglič. As iT she has performed in Vienna, Berlin, Bratislava, Mostar, Belgrade (DisPatch), Novi Sad, Budapest (UltraHang), Krakow, Densites-France, Sarajevo, Kassel …
NOID (aka Arnold Haberl), geb 1970, studierte Cello und Mathematik in Wien, und unterrichtet MultiMediaArt an der University for Applied Science in Salzburg, lebt in Wien.
Der Komponist, Soundartist, Improvisator, Cellist, elektronischer Musiker versteht seine Arbeit als Grundlagenforschung, die zu einer breiten Palette an widersprüchlichen Ergebnissen führt: Von Cello Solos und Tonbandstücken über Ensemblekompositionen und Improvisationspartituren über Performances mit elektronischen und hybriden Instrumenten bis zu Sound-Installationen, Videos und imaginärer Musik. Auch sein Beitrag als Programmierer zur Musik-Freeware “ppooll” (http://ppooll.klingt.org) steht in diesem Zusammenhang.
Aus dieser Herangehensweise ergeben sich Zusammenarbeiten mit bildenden Künstlern wie Alexander Schellow, God’s Entertainment oder Heike Kaltenbrunner, Choreographen wie João Fiadeiro, Colette Sadler, Akemi Takeya, Philipp Gehmacher und natürlich auch anderen Musikern. Neben den beiden langjährigen Ensembles “ease” (w/ Klaus Filip) und “b:f:n” (w/ Cordula Boesze und Wolfgang Fuchs) arbeitet er als Improvisator zum Beispiel mit Taku Unami, Axel Doerner, Christian Weber, dieb13, o.blaat, Billy Roisz, Carl Stone, Kazuhisa Uchihashi, Burhard Stangl, Hankil Ryu, etc…
Er ist Teil des Organisationsteams des jährlich stattfindenden interdisziplinären Festivals “reheat” (Kleylehof) und der Veranstaltungsreihe “der bloede dritte mittwoch” (Wien). Seit 2009 kuratiert er die Sound Art Ausstellung im Rahmen des Festivals “konfrontationen nickelsdorf”.

Arbeitet in den Bereichen elektroakustischer Komposition/Improvisation, live-Elektronik, Phonographie, Installationen, Radiokunst, Video, etc.

DARIO SANFILIPPO was born in Agrigento, Italy, in 1983.
He is a freelance composer, performer and sound artist whose research is focused on the study and exploration of complex dynamical feedback systems for non-conventional sound synthesis, improvised human-machine interaction performances, and autonomous sound installations.
His works and researches have been presented in international festivals and contemporary music events such as AudioArt Festival, CurvaMinore Festival, Acoustic Fields Festival, AudioVisiva Festival, Quiet Cue concert series, Live!iXem Festival, as well as Universities like Naples’ L’Orientale, Bangor University, Queen Mary University of London; they have been selected for international conferences like International Computer Music Conference 2012, Sound and Music Computing 2011, Digital Music Research Network 2011, Colloquium of Musical Informatics 2010 and 2012, INTER/actions Symposium 2012, and they have been published for record labels such as Creative Sources, Die Schachtel and Idroscalo.

ALESSANDRO VICARD, bassist and composer, studied bass with Corrado Canonici and Wolfgang Guttler, Music Institute G. Rossini, Pesaro. In addition to classical studies and studies in contemporary music, jazz, improvised music and composition, Vicard began with radical improvised music in 1994 with Davide Granato and Elio Amato, Italy. Since then, working with composers, visual artists f.i. Peter Greenaway and Saskia Boddeke (GB/NL), multimedia work ‘The Blue Planet’ (Expo Zaragoza). Further collaborations with G. Schiaffini, Michael Riessler, Benat Achiary, Massimo Cohen, Kuchera-Morin, Agostino DiScipio, Cort Lippe, Pablo Montagne, Marcello Nisinman, Barre Phillips, Gianni Gebbia, Franz Hautzinger, Steve Potts, Vienna Improvisers Orchestra, Music for theater and film productions, including EmmeA Teatro (I), spiral Theatre (CH).

MICHAEL FISCHER, musician-composer in the range of improvised music/noise/soundscapes, on saxophone, violin, conducted instant compostions, cd-players/mixer: since 1999 working on the implications of the electro-acoustic phenomenon feedback, i.e. the feedback_saxophone.
Performances throughout Europe and Japan. Cooperations with musicians, artists and artist-collectives, with writers in experimental poetry, exploring the common grounds and images of articulation and sound within diverse projects. As instant composition conductor working with large ensembles/choir in Spain, Italy, the NL, Germany, Japan, Liechtenstein, in 2012 with the Brunnenchor and ensemble for a project of Brunnenpassage / Wien Modern. In 2005 he launched the Vienna Improvisers Orchestra.
